~ Newborn Preparation Guide ~

Please follow these guidelines to ensure we get the most out of our times together at your Newborn session.

  • Newborn sessions are best done within the first 14 days of being born for several reasons: Babies still like to be curled up while we pose them and are usually still very sleepy and much more cooperative during this timeframe however we can still photograph older Newborns please contact me and I will advise your best options.

  • Newborn sessions can only be done in my studio I am a studio light photographer which means I cannot travel to your home with all my lighting needs.

  • Number One Priority and very important is to feed your baby just before you leave home if your baby is asleep a nice warm bath will wake them gently for any unscheduled feeds. Try to keep your baby awake as much as possible in the few hours before your shoot it will ensure they drift off to sleep once you arrive and help us get as many set ups as possible.

  • Dress your baby in a jumpsuit one size too big with no singlet, this helps me on arrival to not disturb baby too much whilst getting them ready for the first shot of the day.

  • Bring a dummy if you have one it can sometimes save a particular shot. I can Recommend Jolly pops dummies for Newborns it seems to be the one that works best with all my teeny tiny clients.

  • To keep baby super settled and get as many set ups as we can we keep it lovely and warm in the studio so please wear light clothing to keep yourself comfortable whilst waiting, you are welcome to change clothing, fix hair/make up etc once you have arrived. You will have plenty of time to sit back and relax {most dads like a nap on the couch}

  • Rest assured I will ask  for your assistance when I need a spotter for babies safety it's my number 1 priority.

  • Depending on which Session you have selected to do the required time can be up to 2hrs long please allow enough time just in case we need more than that, I would advise you book your shoot on a day when you don't have any big plans after your session. Bring some snacks for yourselves, we are now in a space that allows for a max of 3 adults to attend.

  • I will provide everything prop wise for baby during the session but of course if you have a certain sentimental toy, hat ,blankey etc please feel free to bring it along and be sure to show me at the start of our time together and I will incorporate it for sure.

  • Breast feeding or bottle feeding please expect to feed or even just top up usually at least once during the session I will have instant hot water etc available.

  • All of my props blankets will be washed and sanitised after every session please don't stress over your baby making a mess on my things it happens all the time and is not an issue. Naked Newborns pooping or weeing when naked who would've thought! P. S they do get a gold star for doing it on Mum or Dad and not me...

  • The remaining payment will be required on the day unless previously organised.

  • Please be on time if you are late the time will be taken from your allocated session time.

Finally it will be my absolute pleasure to capture images that you will treasure forever, thank you for trusting me to capture the most wonderful times in your life memories that will last forever.
